For the older boys in your Troop, Camp Kern offers a High Adventure alternative to Philmont that is easier to get to, closer to home and half the price! Kaiser Wilderness Adventure is a 5 day mountaineering adventure in the High Sierra’s of California. Scouts will be members of a 20-person team, learning and applying skills to conquer the strenuous challenges of the program in a dynamic mountain environment.

Situated on the best sailing lake this side of the Rockies, Camp Kern is the prime location for sailing instruction and practice. Scouts participate in a comprehensive sailing course with both land and water based instruction culminating in a thorough knowledge of small boat sailing and the merit badge to go with it!

There are no additional fees or forms required to take part in the Sailing Academy, just sign up on the Merit Badge Sign Up Sheet!

Mil Potrero

Mil Potrero is located just an hour away from Bakersfield next door to Pine Mountain Club. Clean up and renovation of our newly acquired camp began last year with Scouts and Scouters alike pitching in. Cub Scout Day Camps

Cub Scout Day Camp runs several weeks from June to August with locations in Ridgecrest, Bakersfield and Tehachapi to better serve our entire Council. Each year brings a new theme, great activities and lots of fun.
