APPLYING FOR CAMP KERN STAFF

We are always looking for great camp staff members to join our team. The leadership of Southern Sierra Council, BSA firmly believes that a top quality camp staff makes the difference in the success of camp. If you are 16 years of age or older and eligible to be a registered Scout or Scouter you may apply to join the best camp staff anywhere! Scouts who are 14 or 15 years of age may apply for the Camp Staff Development Program (CSDP). We accept applications year round, but normally interview and employ for each summer season during the month of February.

Listed below are the requirements for employment at our great camp:

1. The minimum age requirement for camp staff is 16. Some positions require minimum ages of 18 or 21 as set by the Boy Scouts of America National Camping Standards. Members of our Camp Staff Development Program (CSDP) may be 14 or 15 years of age. 2. Applicants must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America, or agree to become registered prior to the term of employment. 3. The normal term of employment for the season is from mid-June to mid-August. Length and specific times for specific jobs may vary. Preference will be given to those who are available for the entire camp season. 4. The principles of the Scout Oath and Scout Law will be practiced as way of life. The highest moral and ethical standards are expected. 5. As a part of setting the example of excellence in Scouting, proper wearing of the Scout uniform will be expected. 6. References are important. Please pay careful attention to that part of the application.
